COMING SOON! - Classes have not been schedule yet but are expected to begin in December or January. Stay tuned...
In this 2-day hands-on class, you’ll not only learn the fundamentals of wheel engineering and design — you’ll also build your own high-quality wheelset to take home. We’ll start with the anatomy of a bicycle wheel, the role each component plays, and what to consider when selecting hubs, rims, spokes, and nipples for different riding styles.
From there, you’ll move step-by-step through the full wheel-building process. You’ll learn how to calculate spoke lengths, properly load and lace your spokes, and bring the wheel up to tension while maintaining dish, roundness, and lateral true. By the end of the class, you’ll walk away with a professionally built set of wheels and the knowledge and confidence to service or build wheels on your own in the future.
This class requires registration a few weeks in advance. Once registered, we'll help you choose the wheelset you will be building. Typically these are DT Swiss Rims and Hubs but alternatives can be considered. We'll need to confirm the following information:
Hub width (front and rear)
Brake Mount (6-bolt or centerlock)
Freehub body style (Shimano HG or SRAM XD)
Desired Rim Width
NOTE: Wheelset availability varies by supplier inventory.
